This Past Weekend....And Remembering Paw.....

Well this weekend Scott & I went to Lake Degray State Park. Scott had a conference with the Air National Guard. So Friday night they had a dinner that spouses could attend (Steak, Shrimp, Baked Potato, Salad). It was really good. We got to meet some new people, so that was nice. Then Saturday, Scott was in the conferences all day listening to speakers on how to be a leader....he said that he learned a lot....so that is good!!! :) Anyway....while he was doing that, I just hung out in the hotel room....watched the television and just laid around, I bought a coloring book and colored some (which Scott thought was so funny)....but I like coloring! :) Then Saturday night we went into Hot Springs and ate at Fisherman's Wharf...it was really good!! Then Sunday morning....Scott went back to the conferences till noon....so I hung out in the hotel room until 11:00 a.m. (check-out time), then I went into the lobby and waited for an hour and talked to some other wives that were waiting. Then we finally headed back home. I missed the kids so much the entire weekend.....it's hard to leave them like that, but it is also good to get away and have time to yourselves. I think that is so important!!!

But one thing I was sad about....is that I missed the Alzheimer's Walk that was Saturday at Toad Suck Park. As most of you know....my grandfather, Bob J. Starr, passed away in January this year. He suffered from Alzheimers. And every year our BIG family gets together to do this walk.....we had t-shirts made that say "Walking for Bob". Well, this year is the first walk since he passed away, we had new shirts made this year so I made sure I wore mine this weekend since I couldnt be at the walk. A picture of my Paw is posted above...he is missed very much by all of us, although at least we know he is not suffering anymore, it is still hard on everyone and as the holiday season approaches, it will definitely be different not having him here this year. I thought I would share a poem that all the granddaughters wrote about Paw and read at this funeral.....my grandfather was a boxer and two time golden glove winner....so you need to understand that before you read the poem.......

The 15th Round

By: Heather Womack, Sarah Beth Moss, Cacy Simpson, and Amy Schichtl

As the fifteenth round began
All one could hear was the roaring of the fans
Though you took many shots
You never once stopped
You fought with all your might
Even though it took many nights
And then the bell rang
This time it was Jesus calling your name
Now your hand is raised high’
You started to fly
The prize is clear
That heaven is near
Now by God you stand
In the heavenly land

This Week

This has been such a long week for us!!! Let's see....Monday night, Jevin had flag football practice...then Tuesday morning, I was on my way to take Kirsten to daycare and just as I was about to turn into the daycare....Kirsten threw up all in the car!!! GROSS......so I had to miss a day of work....I took her to my parents, had to undo the carseat cover to wash (which took forever), then clean up the car, I then put everything in the washing machine and gave her a bath, by the time I was done with all of that it was 11:00 a.m. She never threw up again, I think it was just from her cold. We then went to my friend Marli's house to help her put up her kiddos trampoline & swing set....and she was kind enought to cook us an awesome dinner!!! It was great and the kids had a blast playing together!!! Then Wednesday I woke up and felt bad, I had a cold....so I decided to not go to church Wednesday evening to try to get to feeling better. Lets see then while we were home, Scott was mowing the yard, he had finished and Kirsten & I decided to go outside to see what he was up to.....well Kirsten fell on the lawnmower and it was still so HOT, she burned herself, she burned her arm pretty badly, then her leg in two places. So, I went in panic mode....started calling everyone to see about what you do for burns, my parents went to Walgreens and got some burn medicine and gauze to wrap her arm with. I took her to the doctor on Thursday morning (took off work another day) and the doctor gave me some antibiotic cream for the burns and said I need to scrub the burns to make sure they dont scar, then keep her arm covered for 4 days and the ones on her leg covered if she's at daycare, but if she's home then I dont have to. Anyway, it was such an ordeal, I felt so bad about her getting burned.....but she is back at daycare today (Friday). But needless to say...I am so ready for the weekend!!! Kirsten's had an awful week!!! :)

First Blog

Guess I should start by saying something about ourselves. I am happily married to Scott Womack. We have three wonderful children: Jevin, Caitlyn & Kirsten.

Jevin is 7 years old. He is in 2nd grade...it seems like just yesterday he was a baby. He loves sports, football and baseball are his favorites. He is playing flag football right now. He is very athletic and enjoys every minute of each sport he plays! He is such a great big brother, he is very caring to both of his younger sisters!!

Caitlyn is 6 years old. She is in 1st grade. She is such a girly girl!! She loves Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus, Cheetah Girls....all those things. She is always concerned about what she is wearing, whether it looks good, matches, all those important things. She loves music and to dance around the house. She also is a great big sister!!! She loves to take care of her baby sister so much. She and Jevin are just great friends.....they argue a lot but at the end of the day they are the best of friends, which I am so thankful!

Kirsten is 1 years old (20 months old to be exact). She is such a joy to our lives!! She wants to be right in the middle of everything her brother & sister are doing. She loves being outside and loves animals! She definitely keeps Scott & I laughing all the time!

And here is a little bit about Scott & I......we actually have known each other for a long time....we went to elementary school together.....I did actually meet him until I was in 6th grade and he was in 7th grade.....he was going out with my best friend at the time. Then we didnt start hanging back out until we were college age again, we had some mutual friends and we at the same places most of the time.....then the rest is history.....I can say that Scott is definitely one of the best things that has happened to my life. He means more to me than I can even put into words! I know that God brought him into my life for a reason and I am so thankful. He is an awesome husband and father to my kids. I could not ask for anything more.
